    Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Yazoo County High School! We are thrilled to have you join our high school self-contained classroom. This letter serves as an introduction to our program and provides you with important information to ensure a smooth transition and a successful academic year. I am Ms. Jerrica Greer. I am a native of Flora. I have 3 beautiful children: Destinee, Rosalyn, and Robert. I have been teaching for 5 years and entering year 6 of teaching.  I have a Specialist Degree in Psychometrics from Jackson State University.

Our self-contained classroom is designed to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs and abilities. We believe in fostering a sense of belonging, respect, and collaboration among our students, teachers, and parents. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to creating an engaging and enriching educational experience for all students.

As parents, you play an integral role in your child's education, and we encourage open communication and active participation. We value your insights, feedback, and collaboration throughout the year. We will maintain regular communication through emails, phone calls, and parent-teacher meetings to keep you informed about your child's progress, goals, and any additional support they may need.

Here are a few essential details for the upcoming school year:

    1. Curriculum and Instruction: Our curriculum is aligned with state standards and tailored to meet the individual needs of our students. We focus on promoting academic growth, social-emotional development, and independent living skills.
    2. Individualized Education Program (IEP): If your child has an IEP, we will closely follow the goals and accommodations outlined in the plan. Regular meetings will be scheduled to review and update the IEP as needed.
    3. Special Services: Our classroom provides access to various support services, such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling, based on individual student needs.
    4. Parent Involvement: We strongly encourage parents to be actively involved in their child's education.
    5. School Policies: Please familiarize yourself with the school's policies regarding attendance, behavior expectations, dress code, and any other guidelines relevant to your child's participation.

We are excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to getting to know each of you. We are confident that with our collaborative efforts, we can create a positive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
