Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year.

I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you to the 9th grade at Yazoo County High School.  I am Elizabeth Moore, and I began my teaching career here at YCHS in 2003.  Throughout my years of experience, I have taught English Language Arts I, II, III, IV, Act Prep, and Creative Writing. I am a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a major in Secondary Education and a minor in English. I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Belhaven University, and spent two consecutive summers at Mississippi State University as a fellow with the Reading, Writing, Thinking Institute through the National Writing Project. 

English is a subject area that incorporates lessons in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing. I am looking forward to the upcoming school year, building upon the skills students mastered last year, and helping students accomplish new challenges in the language arts subject area. I feel that a positive learning experience is built on a collaborative effort among parents, students, and teacher, and I welcome your questions and concerns as the year progresses.

My husband David and I have been married since 2003. We have three children; Andrew, Kate, and Claire, and one grandchild, Aiden.

 It is my ultimate goal for each of my 9th grade students to experience success and to foster a love for reading and writing.

I am looking forward to meeting you all and having a successful semester
