Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hello! I am thrilled to extend my warmest welcome to you and your child at Yazoo County Middle School. I am Sheila Symon, and I will be your child's sixth grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher for this academic year.  I served as an assistant for over 15 years in Madison County prior to receiving my Bachelors in Elementary Education from Mississippi College in 2021. 

When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 24 years, Ron, being a mom to our 28 - year-old daughter, Haley, and being a YaYa to our 4 grandchildren, Aubree, Blake, Cassie, and Anna-Claire. 

I believe that education is a partnership between parents, students, and teachers. Together, we can create a supportive learning environment that fosters academic growth, character development, and the pursuit of excellence. I am committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom where every student feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Communication is vital to the success of our partnership. I encourage you to reach out to me whenever you have questions, concerns, or simply wish to discuss your child's progress. I will regularly communicate with you through emails, newsletters, and parent-teacher conferences to keep you informed about classroom activities and your child's academic and social development through SchoolStatus. 

I am excited about the year ahead and am confident that, together, we can make it a memorable and successful one for your child. Your support and involvement are essential, and I encourage you to be an active participant in your child's educational journey.
