Welcome to the Yazoo County School District, home to the Panther fans consisting of four schools; Yazoo County High School, Yazoo County Middle School, Bentonia Gibbs Elementary and Linwood Elementary. Our motto and mission, “Charting a Course for Excellence” provided the motivation and determination to our teachers, administration and students that led to being awarded a Successful district for the 2012-2013 school year. Our aspiration as a district is to provide excellence in academics and career readiness enabling our students to enroll in college and universities or select technical career training at community colleges. We also offer many extra-curricular programs such as sports, music, art, theater and a host of clubs accessible during the school day.

Yazoo County School District has great administrators, teachers, students, parents and community support which create the family atmosphere found in safe and orderly schools.

Success in the 21st century has multiple meanings for our district staff as we work with the tangible areas of the educational process as well as the intangible needs of students to be successful during and after high school. We have been committed to equipping all our high school, middle school and elementary classrooms with updated technology such as Smartboards, laptop carts, and various other technological methods that assess students’ understanding of the content. Our instruction is driven by well planned lessons that incorporate technology and engaged students in every classroom. We understand that, to enjoy continued success, our students must possess the ingenious personal qualities of character and values that is carried into the workforce. Yazoo County School District incorporates transcending expectations of our students that incorporates punctuality, drive and professionalism into all presentations and assignments. As we continue into the common core instruction and assessment we feel we are preparing our students for jobs today and into the future.
